Santa Monica Seafood

Santa Monica Seafood Review

The Cigliano family began their modest seafood business along the Santa Monica Pier in the early 1930s. More than 70 years later, it remains a Southern California food icon and also a popular seafood purveyor for many of L.A.'s top chefs. Recently celebrating its 70th anniversary, the family moved into spacious digs along swanky Wilshire Boulevard. They expanded the retail market and made room for a café where oysters and champagne can be enjoyed while wearing jeans and flip-flops. The menu is simple with touches of Italian flavors like the steamed Mediterranean mussel, cioppino, and grilled shrimp panzanella. There are also sandwiches, soups, and a kids' menu. Take time to walk around the market, read up on the history and enjoy the free tastings of the latest specials.
