Banana Bungalow

Fodor's Review:

Spartan but clean, the Banana Bungalow is a busy and often fully booked hostel on a major bus line. Welcoming international guests (who are eligible to stay in dorm rooms for as low as $22 per night), single travelers, and families—who utilize private rooms with queen and bunk beds—the bare-bones decor is complemented by free Wi-Fi access throughout, daily breakfast, and evening socializing on the tiki-styled patio. Although there's no pool, a TV/movie lounge with flat-screen TV, game room, and outdoor patios add up to a super casual and friendly vibe. Within walking distance are numerous diversions such as the Farmers Market and The Grove as well as Melrose Avenue's diverse shopping options. Pros: inexpensive stay within walking distance of many bars and restaurants, access to public transport, international visitors welcomed. Cons: for the budget-conscious traveler, international travelers only in dorm rooms, decor is budget basic at best.
