Border Grill

Border Grill Review

Massive, colorful murals are a perfect complement to modern interpretations of this busy restaurant's ancient Mayan dishes such as cochinita pibil (achiote-marinated pork). Other favorites include a wild-mushroom quesadilla, green corn tamales, plantain empanadas, and daily ceviche specials. Celebrity chef-owners Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger display a passion for Mexican cuisine here, but they do mellow the dishes to suit a broad audience.

Excellent right from the beginning...they bring you complimentary chips and salsa...fresh and great! Good service, authentic mexican food. Highly recommend!

The crowd is loud -- at least during happy hour. The margaritas are good. But the food is overpriced and really nothing special. It's not that Border Grill is bad. It's good Mexican food. But for the price, I was expecting more. And there are a lot of good restaurants in Santa Monica.
