Fodor's Review:

When you've had enough big-city attitude, head for this romantic retreat in the Santa Monica Mountains—it feels a thousand miles from L.A. What was once a bordello is now a restaurant oozing with rustic elegance. Mounted stag and moose heads watch over roaring fireplaces and mountain views. They also hint at the lodge's specialty: game. Bring out the knives for wood-fired rack of venison, seared New Zealand elk tenderloin with a ragout of bacon and cherries, Nilgai Texas antelope, and buffalo short ribs. The sprawling terrace is an idyllic spot for Sunday brunch.

Terrible, terrible service. Three hour wait for our entrees which were cold. They offered to "heat them up". Had to remind waitstaff to bring us silverware. Someone else's dirty wine bucket at our table all evening.
