Chateau Marmont Hotel

Fodor's Review:

The Chateau's swank exterior disguises its lurid place in Hollywood history—many remember it as the scene of John Belushi's fatal overdose in 1982. Celebs like Johnny Depp appreciate the hotel for its secluded cottages, bungalows, and understated suites and penthouses. For those who don't grace the cover of Vanity Fair, service can be frosty. The interior is 1920s style, although some of the decor looks dated rather than vintage. The Wi-Fi throughout the hotel means that you can surf the Net while seated on the hotel's always busy scenic, landscaped terrace. Pros: walking distance to all of Sunset Strip's action, great food and vibe at Bar Marmont, guaranteed celeb spotting. Cons: attitude and then some from staff, ancient elevators.
