Dolby Theatre Review

Formerly the Kodak Theatre, the Dolby's interior design was inspired by European opera houses, but underneath all the trimmings, the space has one of the finest technical systems in the world. The half-hour tour of this theater that hosts the Academy Awards is a worthwhile expense for movie buffs who just can't get enough insider information. Tour guides share plenty of behind-the-scenes tidbits about Oscar ceremonies as they take you through the theater. You'll get to step into the VIP lounge, where celebrities mingle on the big night, and get a bird's-eye view from the balcony seating. If you have the Hollywood CityPass, the tour is included. Another way to get a glimpse of the inside is by attending a concert or musical held here. In 2013, for example, Kathy Griffin and Scooby-Doo each had their night on the stage.
