Ayres Hotel

Fodor's Review:

The rates may be relatively modest, but the style here is grand. This hotel resembles a stone-clad château—and though it feels very "French countryside," it's actually close to I-405. Inside you'll find high ceilings, oil paintings, and formal furniture: in short, not the typical casual beachy look. The kitchen facilities in the guest rooms are a thoughtful plus. A free shuttle runs within a 3-mi area. Pros: free parking and breakfast, kids packages include babysitter. Cons: on the edge of Manhattan Beach, requires drive to the ocean.
