$, Santa Monica
Fodor's Review:
On Santa Monica's busy Main Street, the Sea Shore is a throwback to Route 66 and to '60s-style roadside motels. The neighborhood around it is now as trendy as they come, and just two blocks from the beach and bike path. Rooms have tile floors and basic amenities. The rooftop sundeck is a prime spot come sunset, and Amelia's, the motel's sidewalk café, is popular with locals. Santa Monica's Big Blue Bus line passes out front. This hotel is popular in summer: book early.
