The Huntley

Fodor's Review:

A school of 300 ceramic fish crossing a lobby wall signals the Huntley's stylish but unstuffy approach. The location's terrific, close to the beach, the Third Street Promenade, and chic Montana Avenue. In the thoughtfully designed guest rooms, large framed mirrors help enlarge the space. Earth tones and tufted suede headboards keep things mellow. Work desks are ample and come with some very retro accessories: a quill pen and inkwell. Other gadgets are thoroughly of-the-moment: plasma-screen TV, Wi-Fi, and room numbers are spotlighted. Corner rooms have the best views. Pros: ocean views, fun social scene and great views at the Penthouse, the hotel's top floor restaurant. Cons: no pool.
