A school of 300 ceramic fish crossing a lobby wall sets the tone at this stylish property. The location is terrific: close to the beach, the Third Street Promenade, and chic Montana Avenue. In the thoughtfully designed guest rooms, large framed mirrors help enlarge the space. Earth tones and tufted suede headboards give rooms a mellow vibe. Other gadgets are thoroughly of-the-moment: plasma-screen TVs, DVD players, Wi-Fi. Corner rooms have the best views.
