Santa Monica Pier Aquarium

Fodor's Review:

From sharks to colorful fish to a crowd-drawing touch tanks, the aquariums are carefully watched over by informed staff members ready to provide information on their oceanic residents. Run by beach conservation group Heal the Bay, this live marine life menagerie features a collection of several large aquarium tanks maintained by the "Aquadoption" program. A theater room runs education films throughout the day, and a Kid's Corner provides books, games and a puppet-show. Don't miss this chance learn about the area's ecology and staggering evidence of how pollution is affecting the ocean and the animals and plants who live there. Look for it tucked under the eastern end of the Santa Monica Pier bridge along Ocean Front Walk, just follow the colorful seascape murals that cover the outside walls.
