Arts / Performance Venues, Mid-Wilshire
Fodor's Review:
Designated an official Hollywood landmark, this magnificent example of all-out art deco architecture is still used for performances. The 1930s zigzag design glows in brilliant turquoise; a giant chandelier hangs from the vaulted ceiling. A 2001-02 revamp cleared out the ground-floor theater seats to create an open floor; since its reopening, the theater has been back on the circuit for major music and comedy acts. But even if you don't have a ticket to a show, it's worth a drive by just to admire the facade.
