The Ambrose Review

An air of tranquillity pervades the four-story Ambrose, which blends right into its mostly residential Santa Monica neighborhood. The decor incorporates many Asian accents, following the principles of feng shui. Management prides itself on following "green" principles—cleaning products are nontoxic and water use is reduced. Social consciousness here also means comfort: rooms have deluxe, chenille throws, Italian linens, Frette towels and robes, and a minibar with health-oriented elixirs. Windows are double-paned for quiet; upper floors have partial ocean views. Room service and the continental breakfast buffet include healthy choices. A London taxi is on call for free short jaunts in the area. Free Wi-Fi and parking are a plus.

Nice hotel in a mundane area. First room we had was not so great, but once we got changed to another room we were very pleased -- nice comfy bed and large bathroom. Great to have windows that open. Buffet breakfast has juices, fruit, yogurt cereal and several pastry selections...quite good.

Quiet location. Nice breakfast despite awkward seating. Good service from front desk. We were able to walk to the beach although it is a bit of a hike for some people. Would stay here again.
