Santa Monica Boulevard

Fodor's Review:

For many gay and lesbian visitors, Santa Monica Boulevard is the Main Street of modern gay America. From La Cienega Boulevard on the east to Doheny on the west, it's the commercial core of West Hollywood's gay community, with restaurants and cafés, bars and clubs, bookstores, and other establishments catering largely to gays and lesbians. Twice a year, during June's Gay Pride Parade and on Halloween, in October, the boulevard becomes an open-air festival. Santa Monica Boulevard is also prone to bad traffic, so if you need to get out of a jam, try Pico or Olympic boulevards, which run roughly parallel a bit farther south.
