Avenues of Art and Design

Fodor's Review:

Established in 1996, the area defined by Melrose Avenue and Robertson and Beverly boulevards becomes its own little district: the Avenues of Art and Design. More than 300 businesses including more than 30 art galleries; 100 antiques, contemporary furniture, and interior design stores; and 40 restaurants are clustered here. Although most galleries in this pedestrian-friendly area are very high-end, it doesn't cost anything to window shop, explore the latest trends, and admire the exquisite craftsmanship. For one Saturday in June, the Avenues of Art and Design hosts the annual Art & Design Walk to give shoppers a chance to let loose in some of the hottest boutiques like John Varvatos, Phyllis Morris, James Perse, and Williams-Sonoma Home. (Bonus: The area is also good for celebrity sightings.)
