Shopping Centers / Malls, Downtown
Fodor's Review:
Although this 90-block hub of the West Coast fashion industry is mainly a wholesale market, more than 1,000 independent stores sell to the general public (and some wholesalers do so on Saturday, too, when elbow room is scarce). Bonus: bargaining is expected but note that most sales are cash-only and dressing rooms are scarce. Explore Santee Alley (between Santee Street and Maple Avenue, from Olympic Boulevard to 11th Street) for back-alley deals on the same sunglasses, jewelry, handbags, shoes, and clothing you'll see in Beverly Hills. Be prepared to haggle, and don't lose sight of your wallet. Visit the fashion district's Web site for maps and tips.
