Waiting in line at Porto's is as much as part of the experience as is indulging in a roasted pork sandwich or a chocolate-dipped croissant. Just minutes away from Griffith Park, this bakery and café has been an L.A. staple for more than 50 years. Porto's bustles with an ambitious lunch crowd, but counter service is quick and efficient. Go for one of the tasty sandwiches like the pan con lechon (roasted pork), or try the filling plate of ropa vieja (shredded beef). Skipping dessert here would just be wrong.
