Amtrak's cross-country rail service makes stops in Truckee and Reno. The California Zephyr stops in both towns once daily eastbound (Salt Lake, Denver, and Chicago) and once daily westbound (Sacramento and Oakland). Amtrak also operates several buses daily between Reno and Sacramento to connect with the Coast Starlight, which runs south to Southern California and north to Oregon and Washington.
