For breakfast bagels and pastries and lunchtime salads and sandwiches, locals head to Syd's, which brews good coffee and provides free Wi-Fi, too. Want the skinny on Tahoe City? Talk to Dean, the affable owner.

20 minutes for four plain bagels, with 3 people working there and no line. We entered through the back door and a large black pit pull/retreiver was tied to the post. I came out with my daughters to hang out in the public park next door while my wife waited for our 20 minute bagels. The dog came over on his 20 foot leash and started sniffing them from 4-5 feet away, the little girls were sweet talking him. Then the dark started lunging and barking.
About 30 seconds later one of the workers came out and disciplined her dog. No apologies and no relocation of the dog. Unbelievable. Then everyone from the back patio came over and sat near us, far away from the dog. I am planning on reporting them to the police. It is only a matter of time before that dog attacks someone, and the owner should know that.

A trip to Tahoe wouldn't be complete without stopping at Syd's Bagelry. Syd's is right in the middle of Tahoe City and overlooks the lake. They have the best fair trade coffee in Tahoe! The food is great and there are always new and different items on the menu to choose from. No matter if we are wanting breakfast, lunch, or even dinner (they make large appetizers that can pass for dinner), their friendly staff can always make our tummies happy.
There is often a line out the door because it's really worth the wait. Hey, you might even win a free snowboard if you're there in the evening.
