When high-rollers win big, they head straight for the White Orchid, northern Nevada's fanciest restaurant. Signature dishes on the French-California menu include a succulent elk-and-lobster combination and crab-stuffed prawns. Yes, the frilly rose-pattern upholstered ceiling and fake flowering vines might be a bit much, but the oversize ivory-color armchairs are wonderfully comfortable, and the solicitous waiters in white dinner jackets make you feel as if you're eating in the first-class dining room aboard a great ocean liner. And you won't find a better wine list anywhere in town. Period. Bring your credit card.
