It's hard to find imaginative food at Lake Tahoe. Many places serve only the tried-and-true steak-and-seafood menu, especially at factory-style lake-view restaurants where the norm is: the better the view, the worse the food. But Sol y Lago takes big risks with its "Sierra Latino" cuisine, created with a Spanish-Latin American flair. Dishes are layered with color and texture, and have a good interplay of spicy, tangy, and sweet flavors. If you're feeling adventurous, create your own eclectic sampling menu by ordering several of the tapas instead of a main dish. And did we mention the killer views? They're some of the best on the lake. Book a window seat.
