At the base of the gondola the Heavenly Village is the centerpiece of South Lake Tahoe's efforts to reinvent itself and provide a focal point for tourism. Essentially a pedestrian mall, it includes some good shopping, a cinema, an arcade for kids, and the Heavenly Village Outdoor Ice Rink.

Our hotel was the Timber Lodge, adjacent to the Heavenly Village where we enjoyed breakfast at Wolfgang Puck's, shopping and walking around. In the winter the sidewalks to the village are heated, there is also a movie theater and an ice skating rink here in the winter. It is located right at the base of the Heavenly Gondola. A very nice additon to the South Lake Tahoe shopping scene!
