Downtown RiverWalk

Fodor's Review:

The Downtown RiverWalk has gentrified the Reno waterfront district. Where once there were indigents and homeless people, now there are street performers, art exhibits, shops, a lovely park, and good strolling. At one end, the 2,600-foot-long Truckee River white-water kayaking course runs right through downtown and has become a major attraction for water-sports enthusiasts. On the third Saturday of each month, from 2 to 5, local merchants host a Wine Walk. The cost is $15; stop inside the RiverWalk's shops, galleries, and boutiques, and they'll refill your wine glass. In July look for stellar outdoor art, opera, dance, and kids' performances as part of the monthlong Artown festival (www.renoisartown.com), presented mostly in Wingfield Park, along the river.
