When it opened with a bang in 2001, the Siena was Reno's most luxurious hotel, breaking the floral-print mold with blond-wood furnishings and top-of-the-line beds dressed with white Egyptian-cotton linens. And you won't have to navigate past miles of slots to find the front desk, because the casino is in a self-contained room. The spa merits a special trip, as does Lexie's ($$-$$$$; dinner and Sunday brunch only), which serves terrific steaks and seafood in a sleek, river-view dining room. Pros: Beautiful rooms, smaller-scale facility, helpful staff. Cons: Located a few blocks from the town center.
