These charming clapboard cottages sit clustered beneath tall pine trees across the road from Lake Tahoe and a little beach. Cozy, simple, and well cared for, they offer an inexpensive alternative to a motel. All have patios, and some have fireplaces and kitchens. Kids love Bogie, the black Labrador-Dalmatian who lazes all day on the lodge's front porch (ask to see his one trick). If the cottages are booked, ask about the well-run sister property, Tahoe Vista Lodge and Cabins, just up the road. The service at both is terrific. Pros: Woodsy Old Tahoe feel, comfy, good value. Cons: Older facility.

I totally agree with the two reviews posted! This is a great place to just relax, unplug, and not do much but enjoy the pines and the lake. Don't forget that they do have BBQ's on most of the patios as well, and the horseshoe pit is right off the little park in back. One caveat, make sure to book a cottage towards the back if you can. The highway traffic during the day can be a little noisy. Other than that... perfect!
