Don't be put off by this restaurant's nondescript exterior. Inside there's a lovely, airy dining room with creamy yellow walls and white tablecloths—and some of the most delectable dishes you'll find in the Tahoe area. Enticing scents drift from the kitchen where the French Alsatian-born chef-owner personally prepares everything from puff pastry to meringues to homemade bread. Specialties include sautéed veal sweetbreads and mushrooms in a cognac veal cream sauce, garlicky escargot, and rack of lamb with fresh thyme. There's always a fresh fish entrée, and on some evenings a fixed-price menu is available for $33.50 per person.
