Fodor's Review

Nestled mid-mountain on the Northstar ski resort, the plush accommodations of the Ritz-Carlton have floor-to-ceiling windows for maximum views, along with fireplaces, cozy robes, and down comforters. Want inimitable pampering? Splurge on a concierge Club Level room on the top floor of the four-story hotel. No matter which room you book, you'll enjoy access to the spa, fitness center, and heated outdoor swimming pools. Guests can ski-in, ski-out or take a gondola to Northstar. In addition to 24-hour room service, dining options include a casual café lounge, the Backyard Bar and BBQ for outdoor ski-in, ski-out or poolside dining, and the signature upscale Manzanita Restaurant ($$$–$$$$); and, of course, the many restaurants and shops at Northstar Village.

Wished we had stayed longer!

This is a beautiful resort in a beautiful setting. We were only there for one night for an event and a meeting the next day. Located just outside of Truckee, the Ritz Carlton part of the Northstar ski development. The buildings blend with the mountain surroundings. The interior had a comfortable and classy lodge feeling. East facing rooms have breath-taking views of the Martis Valley while west- facing rooms have wooded mountain views. Our

room was nicely decorated, carrying through with the lodge theme. Nice linens and a deep soaking tub! If I had known how much I would enjoy the room, I would have stayed longer! Since we were part of a group, we had a special rate for our room and the resort fee was waived. Otherwise, this resort is pretty expensive, even in the shoulder season when we were there(early June 2012). Shoulder season also means things were pretty quiet, which is fine for us, but those looking for action would be bored. This a beautiful place to relax and pamper yourself in the off season. Or have fun winter and summer with outdoor activities. I would stay here again!
