California Route 66 Museum

Fodor's Review:

Fans of the Mother Road can visit the California Route 66 Museum, whose exhibits chronicle the history of America's most famous highway. At the museum you can pick up a book that details a self-guided tour of the old Sagebrush Route from Oro Grande to Helendale. The road passes Route 66 icons such as Potapov's Gas and Service Station (where the words bill's service are still legible) and the once-rowdy Sagebrush Inn, now a private residence.
