Housed in a stone building covered in climbing vines, Ravenswood's tasting room lives up to the winery's punchy mission statement: "no wimpy wines." They generally succeed, especially with their signature big, bold zinfandels, which are sometimes blended with petit syrah, carignane, or other varietals that grow in the same field (this is called a "field blend"). Also be sure to taste the Bordeaux-style blends, early-harvest gewürztraminer, and lightly sparkling moscato, too. Tours that focus on their viticultural practices, held 10:30 daily, include a barrel tasting of wines in progress in the cellar.
