Almost everything's close at hand here: this waterfront inn is part of a complex of restaurants, shops, and a spa, all within easy walking distance of downtown Napa. Guest rooms spread through three neighboring buildings. Those in the 1884 Hatt Building have original architectural details, including maple hardwood floors; some rooms have canopy beds, fireplaces, and old-fashioned slipper tubs. Brighter colors dominate in the Plaza and Embarcadero buildings. Some Embarcadero rooms have small balconies and an understated nautical theme.

We got a reservation at the Napa River Inn off an auction on www.skyauction.com (I HIGHLY recommend this site- its like ebay for vacations!) and we felt we got a great deal. We got engaged the first day that we were there, so they gave us a complimentary upgrade (and this was in May, so it wasn't like there was no one there...) and our room was great with a small, but private balcony overlooking a small river. The complimentary breafast was great and we were overall very pleased with our stay there.
