Glen Ellen Inn Oyster Grill & Martini Bar

Glen Ellen Inn Oyster Grill & Martini Bar Review

Tucked inside a creek-side 1940s cottage, this cozy restaurant exudes romance, especially if you snag a seat in the shady garden or on the patio strung with tiny lights. After taking the edge off your hunger with some oysters on the half shell and an ice-cold martini, order from the eclectic, frequently changing menu that plucks elements from California, French, and occasionally Asian cuisines. For instance, you might try ginger tempura calamari with mango salsa or grilled rib-eye steak with Gorgonzola mashed potatoes. Desserts tend toward the indulgent; witness the warm pecan bread pudding with a chocolate center that sits in a puddle of brandy sauce.

Just had dinner with my wife at our favorite new place in Sonoma wine country-the Glen Ellen Inn. We Loved the oysters, loved the Mahi-Mahi, Loved the dessert sampler! I will be back-with friends!

Yeah, that says it all. Dry tasteless oysters, pretentious clientele, mediocre service. Take your chances, see for yourself. Or don't bother. Everyone else seems to love this place. We thought it was aweful.
