This pair of turn-of-the-20th-century Victorian homes claims a prime location half a block from Sonoma Plaza. The living room and dining room have some original Arts and Crafts pieces; guest rooms follow a similar style, with a quilt on every bed. Some rooms have fireplaces; some have whirlpool tubs. Most have private entrances and decks, and rooms in the rear house open onto a garden. Welcome bonuses include a hot tub in the backyard and free use of the inn's bicycles. It's ideal for a quick trip to the Wine Country, since they don't impose the usual two-night minimum stay on weekends.

Thistle Dew Inn was a dream!

I highly recommend this lovely inn, with its friendly innkeepers. The house (2 actually) are historic, nicely decorated with beautiful antiques, and cozy. The hot tub is clean and new, and located in the lovely garden. The rose bushes and other wonderful flora are a plus- most rooms have a private deck in the garden. We borrowed bikes (new bikes!) and rode to the many nearby wineries (Buena Vista, Sebastiani) and picnicked in the vineyards. The breakfast was amazing (Buckwheat pancakes; Omlettes), and the local restaraunts (we liked the Girl and the Fig) are walking distance and world-class. Next time we go we will take advantage of the new brick outdoor BBQ. I recommended it to many friends, many of whom took advantage of staying just one night (unlike most bed and breakfasts), all of whom reported that they were delighted!
