Fodor's Review:

The lackluster location of this Spanish Mission-style motel near U.S. 101 nevertheless means quick access to downtown Healdsburg and other Wine Country hotspots. Deluxe rooms are slightly more spacious and muted in color than the standard rooms, but both types were redecorated in 2006 and are kept spotless. At this writing another 60 rooms, with amenities like flat-panel TVs and spa tubs, were scheduled to open later in 2007. A casual family restaurant is next door.

I stayed here as we are having a wedding in wine country and were checking on hotels for our guests to stay at. Now, let me preface this by saying that I travel every week for work both domestically and internationally. In summary, this was probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. When I travel to third world countries, I expect the room to be a little rough and take precautions by bringing slippers, etc, now this place takes to the next level in both lack of cleanliness and SERVICE.

Ok, our experience...we check in on a Thursday night around 1:00 a.m. as our flight was delayed, we were a little shocked by the dirtiness of the carpets after check-in, but in any event, we were happy to put our heads down. The next morning we get up at dawn, leave by 9:00 a.m. and are in meetings all day. When we return at 5:00 p.m., we come back to our room and see that it has not been made up. Thus, I call the front desk to inform them that we need room service. I am told by the front desk that the maid staff is gone for the day and he could "send a maintenance worker to TRY to clean the room if I like" (can you believe that??? TRY to clean it). Thus, as anyone would do, I informed him that room service is a basic service of any hotel and I asked for the manager. I was informed that he was on break and has been working all day and cannot meet right now. As such, this prompted me to walk down to the office and attempt to resolve the situation. After a bit of time, I met the manager, cancelled my second night, cancelled my wedding guests reservations for the following month, and re-booked everyone at the Hilton and check into a competing hotel (Hilton Santa Rosa) and had an excellent stay at the Hilton.

Again, let me stress, I was never upset during the situation, as I have traveled every week for over 10 years and come to get used to special situations. However, this one really stands out for several reasons: 1st, the hotel is a complete pit. 2nd, the good reviews must be written by the owners or a service, 3rd, they did not provide basic services, 4th, made no effort to resolve the issues and finally 5th, was never even offered an apology for the inconvenience.

Worst stay of my life to date...and yes, I have stayed in hotels in Burma, Laos and Nicaragua.

AVOID, camping without a tent is much better!!!! Don't trust the good reviews as I would highly doubt the validity of the authors.

We, at first, were happy to pay the price-new rooms, very exquisit and clean...until we found the remains of a rodent under the bed. The fee on the internet stated 20 for small pets, nothing at the desk...they charged 50. We were awoke by a construction worker, on our fenced in padio, before 8am peering in the window. We are disputing the credit card charge. We could not reach anyone in charge to dicuss any of this. There are many other nice places to stay in Healdsburg-a nice town. Do not stay here.

Beware: new renovated Deluxe room at $170. is a basic, no style motel room. Don't be fooled by very nice outside renovation like we were.
Either pay more for a stay that match your Sonoma Valley experience or save money and stay at the Travelodge next door.
