The oldest continuously operating inn in the area, this 1881 Victorian mansion, surrounded by 8 acres of wooded and landscaped grounds, is straight out of a storybook. Rooms in the three-story mansion, the carriage house, and the two separate cottages are splendidly ornate, with mirrors in gilt frames and paintings covering every wall. Each bed is piled high with silk- and velvet-clad pillows. Candlelight dinners are served in the formal dining rooms nightly (except Monday and Tuesday January through April), and there's jazz on the veranda on Saturday evenings from May through July, plus on Friday from August through October.
