In 2005 posh Healdsburg got even more chichi with the opening of this opulent Relais & Châteaux hotel, featuring guest rooms spacious and elegant enough for French nobility, with 18th- and 19th-century antiques and reproductions, canopied beds, and gas-burning fireplaces. Most of the gleaming, white-marble bathrooms have spa tubs in addition to enormous showers. Rooms on the third floor have soaring 20-foot ceilings that make them feel particularly large, while the second-floor rooms have a slightly more understated style. Wine and cheese are served every evening in the library, which is sumptuously paneled with hand-carved black walnut, and a continental breakfast can be delivered to your room or served in the library.
