David Coffaro Estate Vineyard

Fodor's Review:

David Coffaro himself tends to every aspect of the winemaking process at David Coffaro Estate Vineyard, where many of the 5,000 or so bottles produced here annually are sold in a futures program (wine can be purchased up to five months before it's even produced). Rather than single-varietal wines, Coffaro crafts unique blends, like the Escuro, made from cabernet, petite sirah, petite verdot, and tannat, a varietal that's popular in the Basque region between France and Spain but rarely grown in the United States. Though it's generally open daily 11-4, call ahead to ensure someone is available to pour for you; you can often be treated to a barrel tasting. The bare-bones barrel room looks more like a garage than your average tasting room.

  • Cost: Tasting and tour free
  • Open: Daily 11-4, tour Friday at 11 and 1, by appointment
