Part of the Carneros Inn complex, west of downtown Napa, this small spot has a rural charm-meets-industrial chic theme. Outside, rocking chairs and swings occupy the porch of a modern red barn; inside, things get sleek with high ceilings and galvanized steel tabletops. The small menu of modernized American classics includes dishes such as braised short ribs with mashed potatoes and roasted cipollini onions and flatbread topped with bacon, Point Reyes blue cheese, and sautéed mushrooms. If there's a wait for a table, never fear: belly up to the wine bar, where you can find a good selection of reasonably priced glasses.

This is a terrific location for brunch -- especially if you're heading from Napa to Sonoma. The service is impeccable and the burgers are yummy, as are the fries (served in a cone). You may have to wait, but it's worth it. Though the feel is casual, the quality of the food for the price is the equal of many more expensive restaurants in the area.
