Artesa Vineyards & Winery

Fodor's Review:

With its modern, minimalist look in the tasting room, which is dug into a Carneros hilltop, and contemporary sculptures and fountains on the property, Artesa Vineyards & Winery is a far cry from the many faux French châteaux and rustic Italian-style villas in the region. Although the Spanish owners once made sparkling wines, now they produce primarily still wines under the talented wine maker Don Van Staaveren, including some well-regarded cabernet sauvignons, chardonnays, and pinot noirs. Two rooms off the tasting room display exhibits on the Carneros region's history and geography, as well as antique wine-making tools.

  • Cost: Tasting $4 and up, tour free
  • Open: Daily 10-5; tour daily at 11 and 2
