This formal restaurant is a triumph of dining elegance: muted colors, a fireplace, grand views of the city lights, and waiters who attend to every detail. The contemporary Continental menu contains such entrées as a mixed grill of game (venison, quail, and buffalo) with black barley and huckleberries, and potato-wrapped striped sea bass with spinach, tomato, and sweet-basil wine sauce. There's also a spa tasting menu for those watching fat and calories.

Earns its Stars

The Ventana Room is gourmet all the way from the extensive tasting menu to the view. We had a great window table, where they sat us both looking out over downtown Tucson. My husband took me here for my birthday, and the chef made a special-request dessert for me, Baked Alaska. It was outstanding and a very pleasant evening. You will not be rushed here - pricey, but worth the experience at least once.

service excellent, food both hit and miss

having dined there recently, we felt the menu had lost its way a bit since last year. Service is excellent as always, but some of the dishes seemed to 'miss'. The caviar dish was excellent, and the desserts were very good. The rare peppers and seasonings on the table are an interesting touch, but difficult to use on already seasoned food.
