Geological Sites, Saguaro National Park
Fodor's Review:
The most impressive petroglyphs, and the only ones with explanatory signs, are on the Bajada Loop Drive in Saguaro West. An easy 5-minute stroll from the signposted parking area takes you to one of the largest gatherings of rock carvings in the Southwest. You'll have a close-up view of the designs left by the Hohokam people between AD 900 and 1200, including large spirals some believe are astronomical markers.
