Fresh food takes on a whole new meaning at this contemporary bistro emphasizing inventive pizzas, pastas, and salads. The casual interior's focal point is a huge stone oven, where the pies are fired with toppings like Australian blue cheese, kalamata olives, sausage, and even chicken with peanut sauce. Whole wheat crust is an option and for those avoiding carbs, there are baked salmon and chicken entrées. The housemade mozzarella is delectable, either on top of a pizza or in a salad with organic tomatoes.

Zona 78 is turning out some of the best pies I have ever tasted. I love gourmet style pizza and this place puts CPK and others to shame. Try the whole wheat crust they make it is unbelievable. Pizza is one of those foods that I would have for my last meal, and Zona's version would be most welcome when the time came. I also found out this place uses local organic ingredients and makes mozzeralla by hand everyday.

This place has what you're looking for: classy looking but still casual, nice ambiance, friendly staff and good food. Known mostly for their designer pizza the ingredients are fresh, the mozzarella home made and you can opt for whole wheat crust. The other dishes are tasty and interesting and the overall prices are moderate. They've got an outdoor patio, rare in Tucson, where you can enjoy your meal on so many of the famously sunny Tucson days. A nice plus is not being rushed out the door. A hope, skip & jump from the Tucson Mall.
