Fodor's Review

If you're seeking convenience and value (and don't mind a certain blandness), this modern chain property will suffice. All rooms have full kitchens, queen or king-size beds, and recliner chairs. Grab a few breakfast items—muffins, granola bars, fruit, and coffee—in the lobby in the morning. Crossroads Shopping Center, with restaurants, a Starbucks, a grocery store, shops, and a cinema, is across the street.

Filthy and falling apart

This hotel is filthy - and I'm not picky. I've stayed in $3 youth hostels in South-East Asia that took more pride in their property than this place. I came to Tucson for a funeral (inherently last minute), so I booked this place without reading all the reviews. If I had known how bad the hotel was, I would have paid more to stay somewhere else. I arrived around 11pm after a long flight, and the front desk was locked for the evening. It took about

15 minutes of calling the office to get someone to check us in and give me a key. The front desk lady informed me they only clean the room once every 8 days. From what I can tell, they clean it every 8 days, regardless of how many new people use the room. My room obviously hadn't been cleaned after the previous guest. Dirty towels were still in the bathroom. There were wads of hair, a rusty razor, and used soap in the shower. The sink was filthy, and there was mold and water damage all over the ceiling. The toilet didn't flush properly. The floor was so sticky that my shoes left marks every time I walked. The kitchenette was no cleaner. The sink was covered in food residue, the microwave looked like a science experiment exploded inside, and the kitchen trash bin still had trash in it. The bed didn't have a proper mattress pad, and the bottom sheet was actually a top sheet that was too small to completely cover the mattress - so the sides of the mattress were completely exposed. Of course this meant the bottom sheet came off the mattress during the night. The next morning, we complained to the front office that our room hadn't been cleaned after the previous guest. They assured us they would clean it during the day while we were at the funeral. I came back 14 hours later to find they had not touched the room. The front office decided to move us to another room on a different floor. I thought maybe it would be better - but it wasn't. While this room did have 2 clean towels and a proper sheet on the bed, it was in a terrible state of disrepair. The laminate flooring in the bathroom was peeling up, the laminate on the bathroom vanity was coming off in sheets, and the bathroom vent was covered with lined school paper and electrical tape, for some unknown reason. The microwave was dirty, the sinks were dirty, and the shower was dirty. How this place passes health inspections is beyond me. The only pros I can think of is that this hotel is in a safe part of town, and I booked the room at a discount. I would be livid if I had paid full price to stay here. The official hotel photos make this place look quite nice, but I think the pics were taken a long time ago. This place honestly looks like some sort of half-way house for homeless people. I highly suggest finding somewhere besides Extended Stay America Tucson, unless it undergoes renovations or new management.
