Portal Peak Lodge Review

This barracks-style structure on the eastern side of Chiricahua National Monument near the New Mexico border is notable less for its rooms (clean and pleasant but nondescript) than for its winged visitors: the elegant trogon, 14 types of hummingbird, and 10 species of owl are among the 330 varieties of birds that flock to nearby Cave Creek canyon. The café serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and will make sack lunches on request.

    Great, relaxing place to stay

We had the opportunity to visit Portal, Arizona and stay at Portal Peak Lodge. The grounds were beautiful, the food was great at the general store (try enchiladas) and the service was fabulous. I would recommend this property to anyone who may want to stay in Portal and hike the beautiful Chirachaua Mountains.
