Festivals to Plan a Trip Around

For the best of the West, October is the month for travel to southeastern Arizona.

The Rex Allen Days, the first weekend in October, in Willcox, are a wickedly fun event featuring a rodeo and Western music and dance.

Helldorado Days are the third weekend of October, in Tombstone: history comes alive with gunfights in the streets, a parade, and an 1880s fashion show.

The Cochise Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering, in early February in Sierra Vista, showcases Western culture, history and folklore.

Wings Over Willcox, in mid-January, is a birding extravaganza highlighted by the morning flights of thousands of wintering sandhill cranes lifting off from the Willcox Playa.
