This historic resort is a swank spot for relaxation in the gorgeous valley between Camelback and Mummy mountains. Built on 125 acres in the mid-1930s, the latilla (peeled log) beam buildings ooze Southwestern charm, and the grounds are adorned with stunning cacti and desert flowers. Rooms are spacious, and seven suites have private swimming pools. Visit the spa for a para-joba body wrap or an adobe-mud purification treatment.

Stayed 2 nights in early June. Beautiful grounds, lounge area, restaurant areas. The room was larger than average, although older with a small bathroom with tub/shower combo, and single sink. There is a small patio outside the room. The spa was very nice and the spa pool was a very nice spot to spend an afternoon. Our rate included a breakfast buffet that had wonderful fresh berries, pastries, an omelette bar and more. Service at Rita's Kitchen was wonderful each morning. We would return, although the room was not as expected. Would probably try for an upgraded room next time.

It is great, however, they keep going into the high price level. It really is the best atmosphere in AZ. I would guess it has a new manager because the continued hike in cost.

We have stayed at the "Other" fancy Phoenix resorts - Four Seasons, Biltmore and Boulders - and the Camelback is definitely in the same league. Beautifully manacured and landscaped grounds. Top notch pool and dining facilities. World class spa and golf. Rooms were spacious and comfortable, although not quite in the same category as the other big three. We had a lovely terrace with fantastic views of Camelback and Mummy mountains. The overall hotel location can't be beat. The lobby and common areas were also classy and interesting.
