Built in 1918 as a retreat for executives of the Goodyear Company, the Wigwam has the pleasing feel of an upscale lodge. Casita-style rooms along paths overflowing with cacti, palms, and bougainvillea, are decorated in Southwestern style with distressed-wood furniture, iron lamps, and brightly patterned spreads. Local art adorns the walls, and all rooms have patios. This isolated world of graciousness inspires a fierce loyalty in its guests, some of whom have been returning for more than 50 years.
