Nestled into the northwest side of the Squaw Peak Promenade shopping center, this restaurant is as close as the desert gets to a Manhattan dining experience: a dozen tables, a tiny kitchen, and a rotating new-American menu featuring fresh seasonal produce. American standards have been given an international flair, so you'll find unexpected flavors in dishes such as seared duck breast with sweet and sour lime sauce. The wine list is thoughtful and not overpriced. Save room for delicious desserts like the lemon tart with Cointreau-soaked berries in a raspberry sauce.

Much to everyone's surprise, Convivo owners went on vacation and never returned. The place is now Bombay Spice, which offers fast and mediocre Indian dishes and a pleasing little wine bar with great $9 flights of sparkling wines.
