Fodor's Review

Performances at this cultural and entertainment complex rotate exhibits frequently, but they typically emphasize contemporary art and artists. You might be able to catch a comical, interactive performance of the long-running "Late Night Catechism," or an installation of modern dance. The acclaimed Scottsdale Arts Festival is held annually here in March.

Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. SMoCA, the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art is often referred

to as a "museum without walls." There's a good museum store here for unusual jewelry and stationery, posters, and art books. New installations are planned every few months, with an emphasis on contemporary art, architecture, and design. Docent-led tours are conducted on Thursday at 1:30. Kids can visit the adjacent young@art gallery for free. 7374 E. 2nd St., 85251. 480/874–4666. $7, free Thurs. Sun. 12–5, Tues.–Wed. 12–5, Thurs.–Sat. 12–9.
