Sushi on Shea

Sushi on Shea Review

You may be in the middle of the desert, but the sushi here will make you think you're at the ocean's edge. Fresh yellowtail, toro, shrimp, scallops, freshwater eel, and even monkfish liver pâté are among the long list of delights. Nabemono (hot pot or meals-in-a-bowl) are prepared at your table. The best dish? Maybe it's the una-ju (broiled freshwater eel with a sublime smoky scent) served over sweet rice. The fact that some people believe eel is an aphrodisiac only adds to its charm. The bento box is a good way to sample a variety of menu offerings.

***Avoid at all cost*** You can find better sushi and more importantly better service at a dozen other locations in the Scottsdale area.

We took some friends from out to town to Sushi on Shea... Frankly I was embarrassed. The service was pathetic. We arrived at 6pm and were among the first customers. We place our order and did not receive any food for an hour. When we received our sushi, the order was incomplete. This was very surprising because only a half dozen tables were actually occupied. We were assured that it was on its way. The rest of our food never came. Very frustrated, I asked to speak to the manager to voice my dissatisfaction. I was directed to owner. She proved to be an uncaring individual who just made excuses about her staffing problems. She did very little to try and resolve the situation (she comped us 3 beers) on a dinner for 5 people.

On top of this... the rolls and fish that we had were not that good.

We have gone to the establishment a number of times in the past.... we will never again go to "Sucky on Shea"

    ***Don't waste your money***
