Book NowThe Phoenician Review
In a town where luxurious, expensive resorts are the rule, the Phoenician still stands apart, primarily in the realm of service. The gilded, marbled lobby with towering fountains is the backdrop for a $25 million fine-art collection. Large rooms in the main building and outlying casitas are decorated with elegant furniture and have private patios and oversize marble bathrooms. There's a secluded tennis garden and 27 holes of premier golf, and everywhere you look, there's a pool. The Centre for Well Being spa has a meditation atrium and a pool lined with mother-of-pearl tiles, where you can drift off to another world. Afterward, you can take in a sophisticated afternoon tea or dinner at J&G Steakhouse.

I wasn't overly impressed with The Phoenician. I'm not clear as to why they received a 4 diamond rating. We had to ask for our car keys numerous times from the bellmen and the concierge was very sick and rubbing her nose a lot. We received a suite when we arrived, which having a baby was good, but the furniture was outdated and the room felt museum-like. The property is nice, but once again, I don't think this hotel stands above a Four Seasons. We didn't use the pool as the weather wasn't warm enough, but it is a huge area. Also, we ate lunch at the clubhouse and that wasn't good either. The porch didn't feel clean. I wouldn't stay here again unless it was my only option.

If you stay at this resort or make a reservation with the luxury collection, be aware that the rooms are paid for in advance and are Non Changeable And Non Refundable.
After making the reservation, we found the rates had been discounted by 1/3. We contacted the hotel and this is there response.
“Hotels calculate how busy they will be and offer the rates that are available for each day of the year. Because new reservations are made every day, this situation changes frequently. Though rates usually increase, the opposite can happen; if there are cancellations of large conferences or groups for example, the hotel will have more rooms available and may be able to offer a lower rate to attract more bookings.
Your reservation at The Phoenician, was made on one of our Starwood branded websites under the 'Internet Only' rate plan as a fully prepaid, non refundable, non changeable reservation.
The Internet Only rate plan was created to allow guests to book on our Starwood branded websites while still enjoying the benefits of the Starwood Preferred Guest program. As this rate tends to be much lower than any other rate plan, it has very strong restrictions associated with it. For this reason, the cancellation policy clearly appears throughout the reservation process to allow the guest to change to a different rate before confirming their reservation and their acceptance of these restrictions.
We do offer other rate plans which have more flexibility for guests who require more flexibility in their travel plans. We must uphold the cancellation policies for each of our different rate plans.
We appreciate your patronage of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and I do apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused you but hope that you will understand the need for these policies. We are unable to modify this reservation or rate.”
We also stayed in the rear of the hotel with a Mountain view. The only problem is the Mountain is only 50’ away.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Phoenician for a long weekend. The service was the best we have had at any hotel.
