Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch Review

When you stay here, it's easy to imagine that you're relaxing at an ocean-side resort instead of in the desert. Shaded by towering palms and with manicured gardens and paths, the property has water everywhere—a large pool area has a beach, a three-story waterslide, waterfalls, and a lagoon. The two-story lobby opens to outdoor conversation areas where fires burn in stone fireplaces on cool nights. Large, updated rooms have balconies or patios and 37-inch LCD TVs. Three golf courses at nearby Gainey Ranch Golf Club will suit any duffer's fancy. Spa Avania soothes the soul, while kids get their kicks at Camp Hyatt.

I was here the first few days in April with a friend for a girlfriend/mommy getaway. This is one of the best resort properties I've ever stayed at! (I have traveled over 40 years!) It appears to be recently renovated with tasteful, high-end fixtures. The grounds are kept immaculate as was our beautiful room. We paid the extra $25 for access to the Regency Club. This proved to be a wise decision. We estimated we save double that and more on beverages, snacks and breakfast. The pools are wonderful. It was nice to have an "adult only" pool for those of us trying to get away from kids for a few days. The water was a little on the cool side, though. Free bike rental made our mornings! The staff here was always very friendly and accommodating to us. Granted, some of the food and beverage prices are your typical resort steep. We worked around that by going to the grocery store down the street and using our club access. It's hard not to find something to do but if you do have trouble, stop at the concierge office. Everyone we dealt with in there was pleasant and helpful.

After talking with housekeeping, we found out our bedding consisted of a down-filled comforter and pillows. Both of us have allergies and were suffering. Housekeeping rushed to change it out for us!Our only complaint was that we were awoken every morning by lawn equipment from the groundskeepers.

We stayed at the Hyatt the last night of a week long road trip of Arizona, and couldn't have chosen a better place! After hiking the Painted Desert,& Grand Canyon, relaxing at the beautiful Hyatt Regency was a perfect ending to a great trip.

EXCELLENT atmosphere, golfing and dining experience. The staff were top notch. I had a very relaxing weekend and enjoyed walking gorgeous, well-maintained grounds, as well.
